About The Wiser Human

Meet Jen

I firmly believe in the innate ability of every individual to heal and cultivate healthier mindsets and coping mechanisms across all aspects of life. We do not have to wait until our later years to grasp the meaning of life and release the burdens that hold us back—we can embark on a journey towards wisdom and authenticity at any stage of life!

While many aspects of life may lie beyond our control, learning to accept what we cannot change while harnessing our power, direction, and motivation to shape what we can, leads to a deeper sense of peace and fulfillment. Drawing from personal experience, I've navigated my own healing journey to find more authenticity and wisdom, and it brings me great joy to empower clients on their paths to self-acceptance and growth.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I find happiness in exploring history, indulging in YA novels, prioritizing fitness and nutrition, and embarking on adventures around the globe— having visited 22 countries and counting! My happy place is always at a beautiful beach or near any body of water with lots and lots of candy!

Working with Jen

I specialize in helping individuals work through trauma, low self-esteem, life dissatisfaction, sexual wellness concerns, relationship and attachment issues, life transitions, and challenges related to personal growth. As a natural problem-solver, I see therapy not only as a place to explore private or daunting topics, but also as a space for learning, growth, and discovering practical solutions that reduce suffering and restore a sense of empowerment.

My goal is to support you in getting to the root of your challenges so you can regain control and move forward with clarity. In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can openly explore the complexities of your life and mental health. Together, we’ll build strategies and skills that help you navigate obstacles and create meaningful change.

I approach therapy as a collaborative experience—recognizing you as the expert in your own life. With a hands-on, person-centered approach, I help facilitate insight, support learning through evidence-based treatments, and co-create realistic, personalized solutions that align with your goals.

Because I recognize the deep connection between the mind and body, I often integrate mindfulness and somatic grounding techniques to help you embrace change and stay present through emotional discomfort.

I'm also excited to now offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as part of my practice. EMDR is a powerful, research-supported approach that helps individuals process trauma, relieve emotional distress, and reconnect with a grounded, more authentic self. It aligns deeply with my commitment to holistic, transformative healing—and can offer relief and insight in ways that traditional talk therapy may not always reach.

Who do you work with? I work with individuals between the ages of 16 and 55, and I have extensive experience working with a diverse array of clients from various backgrounds, ethnicities, orientations and genders. Currently, I am only able to provide therapy services to individuals residing in New York or Florida.

What is the process of starting therapy? Starting therapy begins with acknowledging you might benefit from support — and that’s a big first step. From there, it's about finding a therapist you feel comfortable with, who aligns with your needs, goals, and financial situation. While it can feel overwhelming at first, therapy can be a powerful, transformative experience.

How do you approach therapy? I take a collaborative, personalized approach to therapy—combining intuition, evidence-based treatments, and a strong therapeutic relationship. In our initial sessions, we'll explore your background, conduct assessments, clarify your needs, define goals, and begin building a strong foundation together. I believe in your innate ability to heal and aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space for deep self-exploration. I also value the mind-body connection and often integrate holistic tools to support overall well-being. I'm passionate about sharing helpful resources—like books, articles and reflective practices—and love exchanging ideas that can support your growth between sessions.

What is EMDR Therapy? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people process and heal from distressing life experiences and negative core beliefs. What is your fee? $250/session for individual therapy Fees for groups & workshops will vary

Do you take insurance? I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide a monthly SuperBill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I also partner with Thrizer, a service that helps simplify the reimbursement process. With Thrizer, you’re only responsible for the portion your insurance doesn’t cover—they handle submitting claims and collecting payment from your insurance provider, so you don’t have to deal with SuperBills or wait for reimbursement. Many clients find this makes therapy more affordable and hassle-free.

What are the benefits of paying out of pocket vs. going through my insurance? More Choice: You can work with any licensed therapist in your state—not just those in-network—giving you the freedom to choose someone who truly fits your needs. Greater Privacy: Paying privately means no mental health diagnosis is required (unless submitting to the insurance company), so your information stays off your medical record. Flexible Treatment: You're not limited by insurance rules on session count, type of therapy, or what's considered "medically necessary." Cost Clarity: You’ll know the exact fee upfront—no surprise bills or denied claims.

Do you offer in person or remote sessions? All individual therapy sessions and therapy groups are conducted virtually through a HIPAA certified platform. Workshops may be in person and/or virtual.

What are the requirements for a virtual therapy session? Reliable Internet: A stable Wi-Fi connection helps ensure smooth, uninterrupted sessions. Private Space: Choose a quiet, confidential spot where you can speak openly without distractions or being overheard. Face-to-Face Connection: Being on camera supports rapport and deeper communication. If this feels difficult, we can explore it together. Consistency Matters: Regular attendance is essential for meaningful progress.

Why do you write children’s books if you practice therapy with adults? Writing children’s books aligns with my work as a therapist because so many of the patterns we explore in adulthood begin in early childhood. These books offer a way to teach emotional skills early, support connection, and make complex topics more accessible. Each story includes a "Grown-Up Guide" with reflection questions, psychoeducation, and practical tools—designed to support both kids and the adults helping them grow. When we equip adults with the tools to guide children’s emotional growth, we help lay the foundation for lifelong mental well-being.
